Description

Description

Thermowood® Pine cladding is a high-performance, natural timber cladding designed for long-lasting external use. Manufactured using a patented thermal modification process, the timber is heated to around 200°C using heat and steam, resulting in a durable, stable and environmentally responsible cladding solution.

  • Durable and weather-resistant – Thermally modified to resist rot, decay and fungal attack, making it suitable for long-term external cladding use above ground.

  • Improved stability – Reduced moisture absorption means less swelling, shrinkage, warping and surface cracking compared to untreated pine.

  • Consistent natural appearance – Heat treatment gives a natural, warm brown colour throughout the board, which can be oiled to retain its tone or left to weather naturally to a silver-grey patina.

  • Chemical-free and sustainable – Modified using heat and steam only, from sustainably sourced (PEFC) softwood, with no added preservatives.

Thermowood Redwood Pine Cladding is supplied in a shadow gap profile 18 x 119mm.

Shadow Gap Cladding

Sold by the linear metre. Varying lengths available, please contact us to discuss your requirements.

Thermowood (redwood pine) has improved durability lower equilibrium moisture content, and a far greater dimensional stability (less shrink/swell) compared with the same species untreated. Suitable for external cladding where stability is important. Natural, warm brown tones produced by the process – the colour is stable but will bleach to silver if left uncoated in sunlight. No added chemicals (in many processes) makes thermowood an attractive “clean” modification option.

Thermowood is lower-maintenance than untreated wood, but not maintenance-free. To preserve the thermally-modified colour, apply a UV-protective oil/stain and re-apply at intervals recommended by the coating manufacturer (commonly every 2-5 years). If left untreated, it will age to a silver-grey appearance while retaining structural performance.

Maintain ventilation and drainage. Clean annually or as needed.

Special order – non-returnable.

For 18 x 119mm cladding approx 8.40 linear metres is required to cover one square metre.
