Frake Noir is a thermally modified, west African hardwood called Limba. Thermal modification increases Frake’s natural durability and dimensional stability, often achieving high durability classes suitable for external cladding. Attractive, uniform mid-brown tones after modification; ages gracefully to a silvery finish if left untreated. Good option when looking for a hardwood appearance with lower maintenance needs than many unteated tropical species.
Can be used untreated for long life; to maintain the original brown colour apply exterior wood oils or stains and reapply as required (commonly every 2-5 years depending on exposure). As with other timber claddings, ensure good ventilation, drainage and avoid direct ground contact; periodic cleaning and inspection for mechanical damage recommended.
FSC certified.
Special order – non-returnable.
For 18 x 94mm cladding approx 10.65 linear metres is required to cover one square metre and for 18 x 144mm cladding approx 6.95 linear metres is required to cover one square metre.
